Drink-drive ban for care home worker

A care home worker was caught drink-driving when police saw him trying to reverse into a small gap, narrowly missing a parked car, a court heard.

Keiron Lunt (38) blew 53 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35. He had no previous convictions, Burnley Magistrates’ Court was told.

Lunt, of Cairo Street, Burnley, admitted driving with excess alcohol in Poplar Street, Haslingden, on July 4th. He was fined £255, with £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge. The defendant was banned for 16 months.

Nick Dearing, in mitigation, told the hearing Lunt was visiting friends and left his vehicle round the corner. He continued: “He made the stupid decision to drive a relatively short distance to where he was staying so he could keep an eye on it overnight.”
