Double donations campaign launched to support inclusive singing in Burnley

A fundraising campaign aiming to support inclusive singing groups across Burnley has been launched, with donations set to be doubled for one week only.

Burnley Leisure and Culture, in partnership with County of Song, is taking part in the Big Give’s Arts for Impact campaign, with the goal of raising £2,700 in just seven days.

Every donation to the “Stand By Me” project will be matched through the Big Give’s funding pot, doubling the impact of contributions made during the campaign period.

“Stand By Me” is designed to open up access to singing for people who may face barriers to taking part, while promoting the wellbeing benefits associated with group singing. The programme will support local choirs, including Burnley Signing Choir, and encourage groups to prepare music around the theme of resilience.

The project will culminate in a mini festival of inclusive singing set to take place in Burnley this October.

Charlotte Steels, Head of Culture at Burnley Leisure and Culture said, “Our aim is to raise a minimum of £2,700 through the campaign to enable us to support the grassroots community groups who are working hard behind the scenes supporting local people. Every online donation we receive will make double the difference for “Stand By Me” and we hope that those who are able to, will join us in supporting this important work - together, we can make a real impact.”

Loz Kaye, Director of Lancashire: County of Song, said: “The benefits of singing together are well known from health benefits like improving breathing, to combatting loneliness and increasing confidence. As well as the sheer joy of sharing music with your community! We want to make sure people in Burnley have access to those benefits and we would love your support.”

The Big Give Arts for Impact campaign runs until March 24, with supporters encouraged to donate online at https://donate.biggive.org/arts-for-impact-2026 to have their contributions matched.
