Death of hospice founder

Miss Jobling (93) was a key driving force behind the opening of the Hospice 28 years ago.

She was awarded an MBE for her services to the community in 1994.

Miss Jobling spent her working life in the legal profession in Burnley and was a much-respected and much-loved solicitor in the town. She started her career with the family firm of Jobling, Jobling and Knape which eventually became Southerns. She was given a lifetime achievement award from the Law Society for 70 years service

She also had a long association with the Girl Guides movement and also served on Lancashire Health Authority.

Miss Jobling also held the title of Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire.
