The horrifying incident happened this afternoon (Sunday).

PCSO Beth Gribble, of Burnley and Padiham Police, said: "Following on from reports that there were a large group of youths throwing rocks, yes rocks, not stones from the bushes in Scott Park Burnley at passing cars the Neighbourhood Police Team attended the area. About 20 youths ran off from us and ran down Scott Park Road, towards Coal Clough Lane shouting the usual obscenities.

"Unfortunately for these youths, we had parked our car out of sight and we were able to catch up with several of them and names were obtained.

This group were contravening Covid-19 regulations and the parents could be issued with a fine. We have obtained several images of these offenders and they are being circulated for identification."
