Police warning as fraudsters target public using ATMs in Burnley and Nelson
Police are investigating a series of frauds at cash machines across East Lancashire.
The incidents took place in Burnley, Nelson, Accrington and Blackburn at cash machines across the town centres.
It has been reported that a group of men have lingered near to ATM machines in the towns, and distracted victims, before the victim’s bank card appears to be retained by the ATM.
After that a lump sum of cash has been withdrawn from the victim’s bank account.

The reports have been from a number of ATMs in the area, including Morrisons, Pendle Street, Nelson, and Barclay’s Bank, St James’ Street, Burnley.
A police spokesman said: “We'd like to speak to the men pictured - if you know them or have any information that could assist our enquiries, please get in touch with us on 101 quoting log 0610 of 8th October.
“We want to share some important information on how to protect yourselves from fraudsters. We’re very conscious that some of those most vulnerable to these types of scams may not see the messaging on social media, so we’re asking you to tell your loved ones and neighbours about these top tips too.

“Never share your pin code with anyone. Be mindful of who is around you when you use an ATM. If you see something suspicious, don’t use the cash machine, and report it to us straight away.
“Cover the pin pad with your hand when using a cash machine – you never know if someone could be watching you input it.”
