Police issue fines to Covid rule breakers in Pendle

A small minority have been found by police to be flouting Covid rules in Pendle, including a house party where fines were issued to eight people.

Officers were also sad to discover children from different households mixing in Evert Street, Nelson, as well as people witnessed not wearing masks in a local takeaway, shop and butchers.

Policed had also people from households mixing in cars, a group of youths smoking cannabis off Woodfield Terrace, Chapel Street, Sackville Street and the train station in Brierfield, and others playing football.

A spokesman for the Nelson Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Sadly whilst on our patrols there are a small minority who are not following the advice. Ultimately, we are in this together, we all have families too and have not seen them likewise. We do not wish to issue fines but will do so for those few who continue with this kind of behaviour.

"To parents out there please monitor your children and know where they are because if they are under 18 years and found to be breaking current government guidelines, then the responsibility and fine will be issued to the parent’s instead of your child."
