Police discover 'significant amount' of cannabis and fake cash inside Burnley property

Vacuum-packed cannabis and a large quantity of counterfeit cash were seized at an address after a woman was pulled over by police.

On Sunday, officers from the Immediate Response Team stopped a woman driving on Coal Clough Lane. Police suspected that the woman was in possession of a quantity of class B drugs.

Upon searching the suspect, police found she was in possession of several mobile phones, a large amount of cash and numerous bags of cannabis. Her vehicle was seized and she was arrested for possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

A spokesman for Burnley and Padiham Police said: "Further enquiries identified an address linked to the female. This was subsequently searched by officers and a significant amount of cannabis was found in vacuum bags inside the property. There were also numerous cannabis plants being cultivated in one of the bedrooms and the electricity meter had been bypassed. "Furthermore, a large quantity of suspected counterfeit cash was also seized from the property.

"The female has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue."
