Police are appealing to parents after a group of youths targeted a patrol car in Colne.

The incident happened at 7pm on Friday, near to McDonalds, when youths started throwing objects at the marked car, smashing the driver's side window.

The driver was not injured.

Several youths, aged around 16 years old, were seen in the area and disappeared off behind the retail park towards Mason Street and Windy Bank following the incident.

A police spokesman said; "This is becoming more frequent lately with missiles targeting innocent motorists.

"This is an appeal to parents and carers of youngsters. Do you know where your child is? Do you know what they are doing? Who they are with?

"This incident is not acceptable, it could have been yours or a relative’s car that was targeted and the consequences could have been much worse."
