A 43-year-old man, who assaulted a female police officer in drunken trouble, has been given a 12-month community order.

Nasar Ashraf must attend up to 30-days of rehabilitation activity. He was fined £50, with £50 compensation, a £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs, when he appeared before Burnley magistrates.

The defendant, of Brunswick Street, Nelson, admitted assaulting an emergency worker by beating her and being drunk and disorderly on Brunswick Street, Nelson, on February 16th.
