Nelson murder trial to begin today at Preston Crown Court

A trial into the murder of a Nelson man is set to begin today at Preston Crown Court.

Naeem Mustafa (45) of St Paul’s Road, Nelson, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 48-year-old Michael James Brierley, who was found dead within a bungalow in Berkeley Close, Nelson, last November.

Mustafa has also been charged with S20 wounding, which relates to a separate female victim.

Mr Brierley had been the victim of a sustained assault and suffered multiple serious, chest, leg, arms and head injuries.
