Murder investigation launched after man found dead in Nelson

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Nelson yesterday.

Police were called around 3-25pm yesterday to a report a man had been found unresponsive at a property in Fir Street.

Officers attended the address where a man, believed to be in his 60s, was found dead at the scene. The death is being treated as suspicious.

A second man, believed to be his 30s, was later arrested on suspicion of murder.

An investigation is under way and inquiries on-going.

Det. Chief Insp. Lee Wilson, of Lancashire Police, said: "A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Nelson.

"My thoughts are very much with the man involved and his family at this tragic and very difficult time.

"While we have made an arrest, we would appeal to anyone with information or who feels they can assist with our enquiries to come forward."
