Man stole food because he had no money

A thief who stole four legs of lamb worth £40 from Farmfoods because he claimed he had no money, a court heard.

Burnley magistrates were told how Anthony Gerrard Driver (35) apologised for taking the meat on February 12th.

The defendant, of Chapel Street, Nelson, admitted theft at Colne. He was given a nine-month conditional discharge and must pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
