Just after 12-20am on November 17th, the first victim – a man in his 30s – was walking to the petrol station on Eastern Avenue when he was approached by a man who demanded money from him.

When the victim stated he had no money, the suspect lifted his jumper up, revealing a knife in his waistband.

The suspect has then picked that money up and walked over to the second victim – a man also in his 30s.

He was subjected to threats for money, although the knife was not shown to him. The second victim did not hand any money over.

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft 1ins, well-built, and bald. He was wearing a dark blue jacket, a light grey hoodie and dark tracksuit bottoms.

No arrest has been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing.

DC Carl Guest, of Burnley CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident where one man has been threatened at knife-point and a second has been subjected to threats for cash. Although we have made a number of enquiries we have still been unable to identify the man responsible and that is why we are now asking for the public’s help.

“If anybody recognises the man in the CCTV still I would urge them not to approach him but to contact police. I would also ask the man himself to do the right thing and attend his nearest police station if he sees this appeal.”
