Drunk woman found with trousers round her knees

Christine Farmer, also in breach of a conditional discharge, had unleashed a torrent of expletives at police, repeatedly swearing after they were called to a Burnley street.

Prosecutor Miss Charlotte Crane said Farmer told officers to leave her alone. She smelled of alcohol and her eyes were glazed. She was asked to make herself decent because there were children in the area.

The bench was told how the 41-year-old caused the trouble while subject to a 16-week prison term, suspended for two years. It was imposed in October 2015 for two counts of assault and possessing cannabis.

She was also in breach of a 12-month conditional discharge, given to her by Greater Manchester magistrates on July 27th for being drunk and disorderly.

The defendant was fined £40 for the outburst on New Hall Street, Burnley, on August 15th. She pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly. The bench made no order for costs due to her means, but imposed a £30 victim surcharge.

The £70 was added on to £1,300 she owed the court in fines, costs, surcharges and compensation. The bench remitted £1,100 in fines, leaving Farmer £208.50 in compensation to pay.

Farmer, of Colne Road, Burnley, was told she would be detained in the precincts of the court until the close of business, so the £1,100 would be deemed paid.

Nick Dearing (defending) told the hearing: "She presents as a rather vulnerable young lady with quite a raft of personal issues."

The solicitor said her boyfriend had gone to her flat and had become aggressive towards her. She had had alcohol and she went to the shop to get some more drink to drown her sorrows.

Mr Dearing said Farmer had dressed in haste and was wearing an old pair of trousers which weren't particularly well-fitting.
