Driver and passenger who fled Burnley police caught and charged with driving and drugs offences

A vehicle, that made off from police in Burnley yesterday, was tracked down in Accrington and the occupants arrested for driving and drugs offences.

Officers from the Burnley Response and Neighbourhood policing teams were called out the East TACOPS and East Dog Unit after the red VW Golf made off in Princess Way.

A short while later, the vehicle was sighted again in Accrington, when it again made off from officers.

Following a coordinated response from all units, the vehicle was found abandoned and two males were tracked into the shopping centre in Accrington, and, with the help of staff, they were arrested for driving offences.

A large quantity of suspected Class A drugs were also recovered. Both males were then further arrested on suspicion of [ossession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Both men were taken toi Blackburn Police Station to be interviewed regarding the incident.

Police thanked staff at the Accrington shopping centre for their help and they have asked for the public to continue to report any suspected drug dealing activities to their local neighbourhood teams.
