Devil obsessed man - who calls himself Lucifer - jailed after saying he would torch his mum's house

Michael Pinder, 36, of Lanark Street, Burnley, developed a fixation with Satan after starting to take drugs, District Judge Jane Goodwin was told at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Pinder pleaded guilty to common assault on his mum, threats to endanger her home by fire, and theft of £250 from the woman. He was jailed for 16 weeks.

Prosecutor Neil White said Pinder had argued with his mum over money and said if she went out she wouldn’t be able to return because he’d torch her home.

“He seems to be obsessed with the Devil and his mother thinks he needs help,” Mr White said.

District Judge Goodwin said: “These are serious offences...”
