Hide AdBamber, who had no insurance or licence, then apologised when told he would be reported, the court heard.
The defendant already had eight points on his licence, was given six points and was banned for six months.
His solicitor told the court Bamber had bought the vehicle from his partner's sister and had no licence or insurance.
Mr Geoff Ireland said: "It doesn't appear there is any suggestion he was driving it badly. Police just carried out a spot check."
Bamber, of Parkinson Street, Burnley, admitted obstructing police, no insurance and licence, on Plumbe Street in the town, on March 27th.
He was fined £160, with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
