Road police patrols have been busy cracking down on driving misdemeanors across the county, including stopping one vehicle which crashed on the motorway, carried on and crashed again.
There have also been good examples of a ‘copper’s nose’ – where an officer has an intuition something isn’t right – and this week, it’s lead to a driver being taken off the road for no licence, no tax, no insurance, and drug offences.

5. Just Eat
This Nissan Micra was stopped on Ring Way, Preston. The driver was delivering food around the local area despite the car being registered and insured to Surrey. The driver also had a provisional licence. Photo: Lancs Police
6. Cannabis
This van was stopped in Eastway, Preston, and officers found a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle. The driver failed a roadside drug test and was arrested. Photo: Lancs Police
7. Stolen
This recently-stolen car was spotted in Blackpool, so patrol HO50 got behind it, as a sergeant in another police car deployed a stinger to bring it to a stop. One person was arresred for Unauthorised Taking of a Motor Vehicle and other motoring offences. Photo: Lancs Police
8. Runaway
The driver of this van abandoned his vehicle and ran off after seeing a police patrol in New Hall Lane, Preston. He was swiftly detained and failed a drug test for cocaine. He was found to be disqualified from driving and in possession of Class A drugs. Photo: Lancs Police
