The court was told by the boy’s solicitor, Mr Geoffrey Ireland, that the application for the full order against the boy, Maruf Yousaf, of Chapel Street, would be opposed and the hearing was adjourned until August 21st.

In applying for the order, police said the boy’s behaviour was becoming more criminal and more serious and an order was necessary in the long term.

Mr Ireland successfully argued for the removal of a condition on the interim order containing the words “harassment and disturbance” as they were inappropriate and unnecessary.

However, magistrates agreed the boy should be prohibited from being in a public place within Pendle and Burnley in the company of four named youths except for education and religious purposes.
