Officers, including specialist support from the police helicopter and dog unit, have been carrying out a number of searches in the local area over the last few days and have been speaking to Declan’s friends and associates to try to trace him.

A search has also been carried out by the underwater search team of the lake at Towneley Park today. Police say this is routine and there is nothing specific to suggest Declan has come to any harm.

Insp. Hassan Khan, of Burnley Police, said: “Declan has not been seen since the weekend and this is completely out of character for him. We are growing increasingly concerned about him and I would appeal for anyone who sees him or knows where he might be to get in touch. I would also appeal to Declan himself to contact us if he sees this appeal just to let us know he is safe.

“We are doing all we can to find Declan and have a large number of officers involved in the search for him. I’d like to thank the local community for all the support they have given us in both sharing the media appeal and in physically helping with the searches. I know Declan’s family are very grateful.”

Declan is described as 6ft. 1in., of slim build, with straight short blond hair. He was last seen wearing a grey Nike sweat shirt and grey Nike jogging bottoms and white and pink Nike trainers. He may also be in possession of a black coloured, lightweight jacket with yellow coloured Lyle and Scott motif on the front.

Anybody with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number 1416 of May 4th.
