Colne's Winterbloom light festival returns with £70,000 Arts Council England funding

Colne's popular Winterbloom light festival is returning this winter

A popular light festival a light festival working with local artists and residents is returning to Colne this winter, brighter than ever.

Winterbloom will return to Colne on Saturday February 13th 2027, following an award of more than £70,000 in funding from Arts Council England.

Colne BID secured the funding to take Winterbloom to the next level after community feedback showed strong support for the light festival, which has become a Colne tradition.

Ash Sutcliffe, owner of Live Like The Boy and chair of Colne BID, said: “As the originator of Winterbloom, I’ve been so proud to see the event become a Colne tradition. It’s exciting to be bringing it back, bigger and better than ever, for 2027.

“This year we made a real effort to find out what people wanted from Winterbloom in the future and are delighted to say that, with this funding from Arts Council England, we will be able to make that a reality.”

With funding now secured, the BID is working alongside artists and community partners to prepare for the event. Visitors can expect the return of the much-loved parade, run by Handmade Productions, light installations throughout the town centre and bigger and more spectacular projections than ever before.

Winterbloom will once again have a strong community focus, with students from local schools and colleges, alongside other community organisations, expected to play a significant role in preparations.

“Winterbloom is always a brilliant day for our local businesses too, with thousands of visitors from the surrounding areas coming to Colne to feel the magic for themselves.”
