Colne cyclist Steven Burke joins Team Wiggins

Colne’s Olympic gold medal winning cyclist Steven Burke is to join Sir Bradley Wiggins’s new team for 2015.

“Team Wiggins” was confirmed on Thursday by the 2012 Tour de France winner Sir Bradley and the team will be sponsored by Sky.

The team features a host of young British cycling talent and riding alongside the Colne Cyclone will be Andy Tennant, Owain Doull, Mark Christian, Jon Dibben, Daniel Patten, Mike Thompson and Iain Paton.

Wiggins himself is also expected to join the team when his contract with Team Sky finishes after the Paris-Roubaix race in April.

Burke, who won gold in London in the Team Pursuit track cycling event, rode for the Haribo-Beacon road racing team in 2014.
