Speaking to the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times this morning, the club’s chairwoman Anne Barker said: “While we were at Mossley, Jason was representing Clitheroe Football Club. In no circumstances do I expect the club to be brought into disrepute by one of its players. There is a family involved in all this and you have to consider that this incident will have repercussions for her. I had to take quick action and dismiss Jason, who had been with the club for a relatively short period of time, may be eight to 10 weeks, to protect the reputation of Clitheroe FC and the victims involved. Everyone has to remember that we, the club officials, are also victims in all this.”
Jason, who lives in Accrington with his partner and two children, previously played for Padiham and Colne FC.
