Co-founder Gary Entwistle said: “I am really proud of our partnership with Costa which has seen our products, based in Burnley, sold around the country and indeed the world.

“As a result of this, we have been able to expand our premises and staff over the last few years, and we are continuing product development work with Costa.”

For Christmas, Cherry Tree Bakery is launching a gingerbread muffin and a cranberry and orange muffin for Costa.

Two new lines will be also launched for Costa’s Christmas little treats range: a chocolate and orange mini yule log and a cherry and almond mini yule log.

Cherry Tree, founded 31 years ago, started out with just five staff but now produces at least 200,000 mini-muffins and 300,000 large muffins on a weekly basis for Costa. That equates to 15 million large muffins and 10 million mini-muffins every year.
