‘Check Your Canvass Form’ Call to Ribble Valley Voters
Annual canvass forms are currently being sent out.
Ribble Valley voters are being urged to keep an eye out for the annual canvass form currently dropping through letterboxes and voters who received their forms via email have been encouraged to check their inboxes.

The annual canvass is in place to help Ribble Valley council to keep its electoral register updated, and voters will need to be listed on the register in order to vote in all forthcoming elections, including for the new unitary authority for Lancaster, Preston and Ribble Valley, which is scheduled for next May.
Research has found that people who have recently moved home are less likely to be registered than those that have lived at the same address for a long time.
The council’s electoral and licensing officer, Jane Horsfield, said: “It’s important that people check the form to ensure their details are correct and change them if necessary.
“Don’t assume that because you have lived at the same address for some time, or pay council tax, that you don’t have to do anything. You still need to confirm that the details on the form are correct, or if there have been any changes.
“Checking the form only takes a couple of minutes and will ensure that you don’t lose your right to vote.”
If you vote by post, you are now subsequently required to renew your postal vote application every three years. As an example, postal vote applications made before Thursday, October 31st 2024 will now expire on Sunday, January 31st 2027
