Cats rescued from house fire in Padiham in the early hours

Two cats have been rescued from a house fire in Padiham where they were given oxygen by firefighters.

Crews were called to the house in Altham Street at 3-55am after a blaze broke out.

Three fire engines from Burnley and Hyndburn attended and firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and two ventilation units to extinguish the fire.

Two cats were rescued by firefighters and were given oxygen therapy before being handed over in to the care of the RSPCA.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
