Jason Benn, Curriculum Leader for Hospitality and Catering, was named the Best Hospitality Lecturer at the PACE (Professional Association for Catering Education) Awards 2015 after being nominated by manager Debbie Howard.

Jason, who has worked at the college for five years, impressed the judges with his entry, which clearly showed how he has helped students to grow and develop through innovation, creativity and enrichment, and with the effective use of technology.

Jason said: “I was shocked to win the award but delighted that it acknowledges the hard work that all of the team at the college’s hospitality department put in to helping our students achieve excellent results and progress to successful careers in the catering industry.

“We have outstanding pass rates and retention records for students and I feel this is because the courses we offer are much more than just a college course. We encourage students to take part in enrichment activities and visits to leading restaurants to learn more about the industry; they use this knowledge and the skills we teach them to cater for, and serve at, events such as the Mayor of Pendle’s wedding and our recent Apprenticeship Awards evening which was attended by a number of leading local business people.”
