Three other people also received precautionary checks for smoke inhalation at the scene of the incident in Westgate.
Two fire engines from Burnley and Nelson were called to the incident just before 9-30pm. Although the blaze was out by the time they arrived a ventilation unit was needed to clear the smoke.
