Canal towpath walk will help mark 200th anniversary
The walk starts at 2-15pm at the Weavers’ Triangle Visitor Centre and lasts about one hour, ending at the Oak Mount Engine House on Wiseman Street, off Westgate.
The engine house is open throughout the afternoon from 2 to 4 pm. There is no charge but donations are appreciated.
The Visitor Centre has a new display about the canal in Burnley outlining how it was built, its main features in the town and its use since commercial traffic ceased in 1963.
Also on display are photographs of the canal by Craig Simpson and drawings by Burnley artist Terry Bates. It is open Saturday to Tuesday between 2 and 4 pm.
