The eaterie, thought to be the first of its kind in the region, was due to open on Monday in Trafalgar Street.

But a spokesman for the business, which has a popular restaurant at Boundary Mill in Colne, would only confirm that the drive-thru would open “soon” and would not confirm the reasons behind the delay.

Store bosses have recruited around 40 full and part-time staff to man the shop, on the site of the former Dexter Paints, which will open between 7-30am and 9pm.

Situated close to the University Technical College and the On The Banks development of the Weavers’ Triangle, the £1m. new chip shop sits near to Pizza Hut, McDonalds, KFC, Greggs and Subway.
