Burnley youngsters are crowned county kings

Burnley Under 15s are Lancashire Cup winners for the second year running after overcoming Rossendale in the final at Leyland.

The town team saw off a well-organised Rossendale side courtesy of just one goal, with Kofi Marshall proving the match winner.

But it was a real team effort with goalkeeper Cameron Cooke-Green pulling off a superb save in the early stages of the match.

Burnley then started to play some attractive football and took the lead when Marshall finished from close range from a Reece McVay corner to make the score 1-0 to Burnley.

Burnley continued to create chances and hit the post just before half-time through Max McNulty. And they held firm in the second half to preserve their lead to become champions..

Coach Mr John Kelly said: “We deserve to be double Lancashire champions and we have a talented team here with many linked to academies.”
