Students released blue balloons into the sky after gathering outside Blessed Trinity RC College in Burnley on prom night.

The tribute was for Ethan (16) who died in March after contracting the deadly bug sepsis.

The sporty teen, who loved cycling, spent a month in hospital in an induced coma and had to have both his legs amputated.

Ethan's parents, Andrew and Melanie, were at the prom gathering to see all their son's friends in their finery for the ball that was held at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors.
