The residential break at the Tudor Grade 1 listed Condover Hall in Shropshire saw Burnley High School’s Year Sevens and Eights learn valuable lessons in team building and working together.

Split into groups, the 75 pupils were set a series of challenges and one, involving removing a huge jerrycan with just four ropes, led to the BHS team succeeding much to the surprise of their leader who confessed she had never seen it done before.

The fun-packed stay also included sessions in Condover’s indoor tunnelling room, archery lessons and a fencing taster.

Teacher Mark Nicolson said: “They students have talked of little else.”

And the pupils gave the away days a huge thumbs-up.“We had a great time,” said Year Seven Olivia Smith. “The activities were challenging but fun.”
