Print service provider Key Digital began a training programme in January with the aim of getting desk-bound employees onto their feet and increasing their fitness.

The 'Desk to 10k' scheme was a resounding success with the team completing their goal, smashing the Burnley 10k in record individual times.

And now the team is looking for a new challenge.

Managing Director Andy Ratcliffe said: "We've got to this stage and now we have to continue this momentum and reach greater heights. Ultimately I'd love to see the team complete a marathon but maybe the next step will be to train up for a half-marathon.

“I think it’s been a fantastic way to get people up and away from their desks – they are taking part for all manner of different reasons, from wanting to raise money for charity to wanting to lose a few inches. I’m so proud of everyone who has taken part and I'm looking forward to future successes that we have."

Following this, Key Digital were given a grant to install changing and showering facilities at their Head Office in Sycamore Close, near Gannow, to encourage more staff to walk, run or cycle to work.

"Healthier staff are happier staff, it also means they have fewer sick days - I'd encourage every business to try something similar," said Andy.
