Man charged with supplying heroin and crack cocaine
A man has been charged with drug offences in Burnley, following a proactive policing investigation.
Officers had received reports from residents of continuous drug dealing taking place on Burns Street, with the corner where the road meets with Belford Street being used as a delivery area for getting drugs to local users.
Police were told the man who was reported as the main dealer arrived on foot or on a bike and was seen making exchanges with people waiting on the street, with cash being exchanged for items. CCTV from the local area showed numerous people waiting at the junction of the two streets on a number of different dates, and at all times of the day and night.
A man was arrested on Tuesday at a vacant, disused property on the corner of Burns Street, and a mobile phone and apparent ‘tick list’ were seized after being found in his possession.
Peter Meeks, 50, of no fixed abode, was charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin. He appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday), where he was remanded into custody until his next court appearance at Burnley Crown Court on Wednesday November 11th.
