Burnley food festival starts

A culinary extravaganza is set to get tastebuds tingling this weekend when the Burnley Food Festival comes to town.

Taking place today (Friday) and tomorrow in St James’s Street, the event will include food stalls, cookery demonstrations from BBC fusion chef Aazam Ahmad and local chefs, a schools “cook-off” competition, entertainment stage and street theatre.

The bandstand area will be transformed into a cookery demonstration theatre where visitors can sit and watch chefs show off their culinary skills, with performances between 11am and 5pm each day.

The stage will also be the focal point for the cook off.
