Burnley death crash: Man arrested

POLICE have arrested a man in connection with a fatal road collision which happened in Burnley on Thursday night.

Kaiser Hussain (16) and Sajid Khan (19), who were from Accrington, died after the red BMW saloon they were travelling in collided with a wall and two parked cars in Marsden Road around 9 p.m.

Kaiser was pronounced dead at the scene while Sajid died later at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The 18-year-old male driver of the car suffered non life threatening injuries in the collision and has since been released from hospital and arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently in custody being questioned by detectives.

The remaining passenger, a 20-year-old man also received non life threatening injuries and has also been released from hospital.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow accident investigation to take place and specially trained police officers are providing support to the families involved.

Insp. Martin Bishop said: “A full investigation into the cause of the collision is under way and I would appeal to anybody who has any information at all about it to contact police.

“This is an incredibly tragic incident in which two young people have lost their lives and our thoughts are with their families who are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.”
