Burnley and Pendle Law Society dinner 2013

Around 80 solicitors and their guests dined at the Fence Gate Inn for the annual Burnley and Pendle Law Society dinner.

The night was hosted by Derek Fort, who gave a review of the legal profession, nationally and locally, discussing challenges faced by the profession as well as the lighter moments and his experiences.

He said: “I was pleased to see so many younger members of the society in attendance, which bodes well for the future of the legal profession in Burnley and Pendle.”

Guest speaker and ex-Burnley footballer Paul Fletcher spoke about his time playing for the Clarets, including his first meeting with Burnley chairman Bob Lord.

After dinner, there was entertainment and dancing provided by local entertainer John Norcott.

Duncan Baldwin, consultant solicitor with Roberts and Smith in Nelson, and organiser of the event said: “The Fence Gate once again did us proud with a slickly managed event which was enjoyed by all.”
