Burnley among ‘most dangerous places in world’

Burnley’s MP has hit back angrily at claims that Burnley is among the most dangerous places in the world.

Gordon Birtwistle told the Express that he is furious about an article on the Daily Mail’s website which compares an old image of Trafalgar Street with some of the world’s most notorious, crime-ridden cities such as Miami and Bangkok.

He said: “I am absolutely appalled the Daily Mail should publish such an article. The reporter has probably never even visited Burnley.

“Trafalgar Street has some wonderful examples of regeneration, including the University Technical College, businesses and green space.

“The Daily Mail don’t know what they are talking about and this sort of reporting really angers me.”
