Brierfield man accused of bank card fraud on elderly

A 24-year-old man has appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged in connection with a series of offences targeting elderly victims throughout East Lancashire.

Farhad Qazi (24), of Arthur Street, Brierfield, is alleged to be part of a team which phoned elderly people pretending to be bank fraud investigators.

The bogus callers having secured the victim’s pin number would then arrange for a “colleague” to call and collect their bank cards.

The cards were then used to obtain cash.

Qazi was sent on bail to appear at Preston Crown Court on July 17th charged with conspiring to commit fraud by false representation.
