Brave battler Bev reaches milestone
Beverley Barritt, former landlady of the Duke of York pub, Burnley, exceeded all expectations to reach her 50th birthday last month - and joining her was rock legend, Freddie Mercury, AKA Ian Adams.
Best friend of more than 48 years, Julie Frayling, and carer Veronica Cullen, arranged a fun-filled party, including a private audience with the tribute star.Despite requiring 24-hour support from her five carers (Catherine Paterson, Joanne Jesson, Julie Cunningham, Veronica Cullen and Yvonne Price), Beverley is determined to live life to the full, having met hero Jeremy Kyle as an audience member.

Hide AdHuntington’s Disease - an inherited disorder damaging nerve cells in the brain and affecting communication, movement and behaviour - might have slowed her down but Beverley still knows how to celebrate in style. Surrounding were close family, friends, carers and Specialist Advisor for the Huntington’s Disease Association, Theresa Westhead.
“The champagne flowed, the music raised the roof and Beverley was centre stage,” said Joanne, “and her smile was reward for us all.”
