Boy (16) missing after lake incident

A major rescue operation is taking place at Lake Burwain in Foulridge after a teenage boy disappeared.

Emergency services have turned out in force to take part in the operation which has seen sevreal young people rescued from what is thought to be a makeshift raft.

Insp. Andy Winter said: “A group of young people were playing out there on the lake where they came into difficulty.”

He explained that they appeared to be on the lake on a possible makeshift raft.

And he said: “We are looking for one child - a 16-year-old lad. All the other children have been accounted for and rescued from the vessel.”

As well as the fire service, police and ambulance, Lancashire Fire and Rescue’s Search and Rescue team came over from Chorley.
