The Bishop of Burnley will serve as the acting Dean of Blackburn Cathedral until a replacement is found for the outgoing Dean.

The Very Rev Christopher Armstrong will preside over his final service on Sunday at 4pm Choral Evensong at Blackburn Cathedral.

Bishop of Burnley, the Rt. Rev Philip North, is to take on his duties until a permanent replacement is found.

Bishop Philip will continue with many of his responsibilities in the diocese. Some of his episcopal duties will be picked up by Bishop of Blackburn Julian Henderson and Bishop Geoff Pearson, Bishop of Lancaster.

Dean Christopher said: “I wish Bishop Philip every success. I am reassured that the Cathedral will be in good hands in the period immediately following my departure.”
