The money raised has once again been donated to Pendleside Hospice and Mr Brown said he was delighted that this year’s total was an increase of more than £2,000 on last year.

The event was attended by over 170 people, who enjoyed cocktails followed by a spectacular four-course meal that was prepared by Bertram’s acclaimed head chef Spencer Burge and his team.

A charity auction followed that included items contributed by Humberstones Jewellers, Crow Wood, Discover Laser, Balmers Garden Machinery, as well as a signed and framed Burnley Shirt from Sam Vokes.

Andrew Stephenson, the Pendle MP, also provided a guided House of Commons tour and dinner in the Strangers’ Bar.

“I would like to thank all the attendees of our annual charity ball – it was a superb evening and people showed amazing generosity in helping us raise £14,000 for a very worthwhile local cause,” said Andrew. “I’m also very grateful to our headline sponsor, Lloyd BMW of Colne, for their generous contribution towards the cost of tonight’s fund-raiser,” added Andrew. We all recognise and salute the wonderful work done at Pendleside, as they give such excellent care and support to people with life limiting illnesses and their families.”

Christina Cope, who is fund-raising manager at the Reedley Hospice, said: “The annual charity ball at Bertram’s Restaurant is a significant event in the local social calendar, so we’re delighted that the money raised will support Pendleside Hospice.
