BBC Proms vocal star to headline Colne Muni Theatre next month

Northern Soul at the BBC Proms vocal star Darrell Smith is set to come to the Colne Muni Theatre next month alongside the Soul Brothers Syndicate, promising a breathtaking live show.

Smith, who will take to the stage in Colne on Saturday, November 7th, will be performing with their 9 piece Northern Soul Band in a show that pays homage to the music known as Northern Soul. Smith is widely regarded as an exceptional vocalist, with a speciality in soul music as well as material that requires significant vocal power and singing in a higher vocal register

The vocalist has seen his reputation grow in recent years, earning him a wide variety of radio and recording session work as well as a range of theatre performances. That success culminated with Smith delivering a standout performance at the BBC Proms’‘Northern Soul at the BBC Proms’ event at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, where he performed alongside five vocalists, who were led by Vula Malinga and the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Smith, the Soul Brothers Syndicate and their Northern Soul Band deliver their performances with their own unique spirit, energy and spin, with a concert experience that explores the history of Northern Soul. The show takes audiences through Northern Soul’s humble beginnings at the Twisted Wheel in Manchester before progressing through to the Golden Torch in Stoke-on-Trent to the Blackpool Mecca and the world famous Wigan Casino.

The performance in Colne comes after the band released their debut single, ‘The Drifter’, in November 2024 to immediate success. The single charted at No.1 in the R&B iTunes downloads and also reached No.8 in the UK Vinyl Charts.

Their newest release, ‘The Night’ secured the no.1 spot in the R&B downloads chart and climbed into the top 30 in the UK’s Official Singles Chart. Tickets to see Darrell Smith and the Soul Brothers Syndicate perform in Colne are available here.
