Barnoldswick prepares for Bonfire Night spectacular

Barnoldswick is getting ready for the return of Bonfire Night with a fantastic evening of fireworks planned next Sunday.

Victory Park will be the venue on Sunday, November 4th for an evening of colour and noise as well as a traditional fairground for children which will be open in the afternoon.

Coun. David Whipp, who helped organise Barnoldswick’s fireworks event from 1987 until recent years, has urged the community to support the show.

Coun. Whipp said: “Barnoldswick has built a great reputation for fantastic fireworks displays and I’m delighted that fairground operator Marshall Waddington is organising a free entry event at Victory Park.

“The event isn’t organised by the town council, but I’m helping promote it. People shouldn’t expect all the bells and whistles from past years, but it’ll be a good display.

“The display team are the same professional crew who provided our Firework Fantasia events.

“The show will be a high quality aerial display with thousands of fireworks.

“Takings from the fairground will cover the cost of the fireworks, so prepare to have a go on the rides.

“The fairground, which will be on hardstanding, opens at 4pm and there’ll be onsite catering.

“The firework finale will be towards the end of the event, which closes at 8pm.”

Coun. Whipp has asked people not to bring fireworks or sparklers on the night and to keep the park area alcohol free.

Parking for early arrivals will be available in the Rolls-Royce car park at Bankfield.

It is recommended people avoid double parking on Skipton Road and Barnoldswick residents may find it quicker walking to and from the annual event.

Other events in West Craven include Thornton Hall Farm’s Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday, November 3rd.

Gates open at 5pm, the Bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the fireworks start at 7-30pm.

Tickets are £8 for adults, £6 for children, under-2s are £2 and under 1s are free.
