‘Bank of Dave’ star bags BAFTA award

David Fishwick won a BAFTA award for his Bank of Dave programme

The Sabden-based entrepreneur won the gong for the second instalment of the Channel 4 programme “Fighting the Fat Cats” watched by millions across the country.

The show, which saw Mr Fishwick take on the banking regulators with his tiny Burnley bank, was nominated for an award at the British Academy Scotland Award for the second year running.

But after missing out last year, he scooped the Scottish BAFTA for the best feature and factual entertainments programme – beating off competition from Victoria Wood’s Nice Cup of Tea and Kirstie’s Fill Your House for Free.

The “banking rebel”, who runs David Fishwick Minibus Sales in Colne, was over the moon to have won the BAFTA at the glitzy ceremony in Glasgow on Sunday night.

Mr Fishwick took to Twitter to share the news with his army of fans, saying: “We bloody won the BAFTA. Thanks to all the team.

“We were v lucky to win the BAFTA tonight in entertainment against the brilliant Victoria Wood and Kirstie Allsop.

“Thank you to everyone for your congratulations! It was a team effort.”

Fresh from his BAFTA, Mr Fishwick is expected back on TV screens with a top secret new Channel 4 show soon.
