Andrew Stephenson, MP for Pendle, has given his support for the path to be built alongside the A6068.

The most affordable option would be to improve the footpath that runs alongside most of the road and designate half of it as a cycle path.

Mr Stephenson has been in contact with Lancashire County Council about the possibility of the cycle path proposals being included as part of the East Lancashire Highways and Transport Masterplan.

He said: “With the road vital for both our local economy and local tourism, the construction of a cycle path would improve cycle safety and encourage more people to visit Pendle.

“I will continue to work with Lancashire County Council in the hope this can be constructed in the near future.

It is something the council are keen to work on and I will support them in any way I can.”
