Air ambulance rescue after tractor overturns

An adult and two children were on a tractor which overturned on a very narrow road in Roughlee.

Emergency services rescued the driver, who was trapped when it overturned around 4-22pm on Good Friday.

Firefighters from Nelson helped the ambulance service in getting him out and placing him on a longboard stretcher. He was then taken to hospital in an air ambulance.

The children did not need to be rescued.

The incident happened in Stang Top Road, which goes up hill from the village and over towards Pendle Hill above Barley.

A spokesman at Nelson Fire Station revealed the driver was injured but was fully conscious when he was rescued.
