The Mayor and Mayoresses of Burnley and Pendle and Burnley MP Gordon Birtwistle will take the salute at the Band Stand as the parade passes by.

Howard Mitchell, deputy district commissioner, said: “Following last year’s successful Promise Ceremony and Fun Day at Seedhill Athletics Track in Nelson, there is a wish to return to the traditional form of St George’s Day celebration.

“Due to the growing number of Scouts in the district of Burnley and Pendle, it is becoming more difficult to find suitable indoor accommodation for our traditional Promise Ceremony and we are grateful to Fr Peter for hosting our Scout’s Own Service in St Mary’s Church, which is the largest building in the area.

“Anyone who has previously been a Scout will be welcome to join us for this special occasion.”
